Education: How not to do Landscapes

There are a number of landscapes posted at the link below. As a learning experience, they would all benefit from the insightful C&C's they could get on a photo forum before going to a gallery. Nearly all these photos violate the Rule of Thirds. Gursky's horizon in the L.A. shot isn't level. His Rhein II shot is soft. Gursky's (L.A.), Steichen's and Prince's images have unacceptable levels of noise--they need to learn more about exposure, ISO, and photo processing. In addition, Prince's composition would have been much better if the cowboy were riding into the frame, not out of it. These images illustrate what happens when unrealistic photographers quit their day jobs thinking they might have a future in photography.

[p.s. One of the problems in written posts is that sarcasm isn't always apparent. My comment is a parody of the dogma in forum reviews and not about the 10 most expensive photos. ]

Have you read about it? It was digitally (and probably meticulously) edited to be a clean depiction of the river, and it was printed at a gargantuan size. I'll bet it's very impressive in person. I don't know if it's worth millions - that's up to each individual buyer. But I think a price at least in the tens of thousands is easily justifiable.
And, IMO, the simplicity is appealing to me.

I did read about it. To me, it looks like a snapshot. But that' just me.
Gotta agree with this ^^ observation....
Aside from the appearance that the image has been "digitally edited" to, IMO, utter mediocrity,
the fact that some (presumed) new-money, artsy-fartsy, neo-hipster dropped the GDP of a small county to probably hang it in his bathroom
shows how thoroughly *subjective* the creation and collection/appreciation of "Art" actually is.
Humans crack me up!
I don't know about you guys, I am heading to local super market! Lightning must strike twice!
I also need to find out how to recover 100s of pictures I deleted. Apparently I threw away 200 trillion dollars in digital trash.:pissed
