The pose is stagnant but the lighting and processing are fantastic. The pose is just a matter of "what I wanted to do", my opinion is just my opinion. Europeans have such a different style than Americans. I tend to like the European style a lot. It's just more edgy.

Thanks Charles, I always try to do it just a bit different then a standard portrait. I talk a lot with the models and try to get them to give me the look I want. It does't always work. I guess the styles are somewhat different but that is what I like about a forum like this. I get to taste the US flavor, and somehow I do get attracted to it. Soon I will post a fifties Pin-Up series, and that is very much American...

To me this is a classic example of a technically superb image without any emotion or soul.

The image just does not engage me.

But please don't misinterpret what I am saying because the photography and PP are great!!

Stephan, is it possible to see some photos and or videos of your studio and surroundings? Might give us Americans new ideas.

Charles, I will post a few tomorrow. I live on an old square farm from 1616, and have my studio in one of the barns. I also use the tower as a shooting place. My models, are kind of an automation. I started shooting for Miss Fashion and one model talks to another....The result is that many models want to shoot with me because of what they say " the light and fantasie". I treat the models with the outmost respect, and we have typical a two hour conversation before the shoot. There are no taboo's , except porn.
Anyhow, I will get a few shots for you.
Anyhow this is at least one view , the old farm in the rain and the old staircase.

I agree. Everything except the expression is great.

I really like the pose and expression. It makes you wonder what she's thinking. I think it works with the lighting and processing.

It is a beautiful portrait, in the beginning I had the same feelings Sam is expressing here but I think it is the muted expression of the model what create interest.

She is beautiful and the PP is just outstanding.

Frankly like the rest I like the lighting and PP. Having said that, I also like the pose. There seems to be meaning and emotion in the subtlety of her expression. Her chin down and eyes up with a bit of a stoic sense.

Is this what you were looking to achieve? The only thing I would change is her left earring...

I like the editing ( except for the blurred darker halo around her),lighting and photography. I think the lack of expression makes the picture. It allows the viewer to wonder what she is thinking.
