I hear you, man. I spent 12 days in and around Yellowstone last Summer and I'm set to go back for a couple of weeks Summer of 2014. As a whole, it's the most fascinating place I've ever visited. That Beartooth Hwy. that scoots up into Montana is, alone, worth the flight from Florida.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
Lovely photo -- you got the light just right. The falls can be hard to shoot. And it's so grand to hear 'outsiders' enjoy the beauty of my chosen state. The Beartooth hiway is one of the most spectacular in the world, isn't it?

Thanks, Lois, for the nice comment.
You're right. The Beartooth Highway trek is truly a magnificent experience. I went with high expectations and, I tell you, those expectations were far exceeded. It's a shame everyone can't take that ride.

It's too bad we can't capture the awesomeness such places provide in person. Well done images such as this DO allow my memory to recreate that feeling though.

How true, Randy. You come home with a bag of images you think really captured the place and then you realize that the majesty of Yellowstone can be very illusive to the limitations of the camera.
I can't wait to get back there, though.

The wife and I spent 5 days there, about 13 years ago....
If all goes well we'll be going back next year, along with our 12 year old daughters. They'll be amazed.
Last time out I shot with 35mm slide film....wth is that? I can't wait to go back out and see my shots, before I leave.
Always lurking, sometimes participating.

You're right on two accounts: your photography experience this time around is likely to be very different in several regards, and your daughters will most certainly be amazed. As I'm sure you're aware of, though, y'all be careful as Yellowstone is fraught with dangers.

Great capture. You can FEEL the power of the falls!
It's great to hear from your quarters, Travis. It's been a spell.
I was lucky to have caught absolutely great light....light that allowed the tremendous power to really come through.
This next shot was taken from the rock outcropping ( observation deck ) that hangs over the top of the falls. Talk about feeling " power " !!! The sounds are almost overwhelming. The sight of so much water blasting by with such ferocity is truly breathtaking. And you're standing there....right on top of it.

It has been so long since I have been there--thanks for the memory. Well-captured image, Tom!
Hey Lauren,
I'm sorry it took so long before I made my first journey to Yellowstone. But I intend to make up for lost time....I'm booked at the Canyon Lodge for a couple of weeks next Summer. I can't wait to pick up where I left off.
See you,
Tom

Absolutely beautiful shot!! Making me anxious for my next trip there!
Hi Kelly,
Thanks for your support. I'm with you....I can hardly wait to return to Yellowstone. If you haven't done it, I suggest taking one afternoon and going on that big outdoor cookout that is offered. The Yellowstone website will tell you all about it. It's well worth the effort and money.
