Maybe I'm missing something but I thought I could apply a new design to my existing Smugmug and it would migrate with the old structure ie categories and main page index on the homepage as it is in the old design, but with a fancy new template....just a few clicks....

But, as far as i can see you have to create new homepage index links and build it pretty much from scratch again...this is not what was announced in the live broadcast. is it just me having this issue? :scratch

The categories DO still seem to exist in the form of "folders." The galleries that were in my "Concerts" category are still all there, and in alphebetical order as they were the last time I organized them on the "old" site. I do still have the problem of having no idea how to get them to show up on my homepage.

yes same here, not what i was expecting at all, looks like a full rebuild from scratch, if thats the case i don't see the point might as well stay as i am

might be just me but seems more complicated than before to customise the new site...

I believe what you are looking for is the "Browse" button. The new templates migrate all of your categories, etc into the Browse section of the page. The homepage, by default, does not display your categories, etc unless you customize it and add them in.

I'd suggest just picking a theme and start playing around with it. It took me a little bit but I am really liking it now.
