Copy Photos to Other Galleries

I used to use the "Copy to another gallery" feature a great deal, to organize my photos by content, keeping the main gallery by date taken. This way, viewers could easily see the most recent work, or choose a subject that interested them.

I've found the ability to "make a copy" under organize for an individual photo, but the interface tells me it's making a copy, and then who knows where the heck it goes...

So, my question is, how do I make a copy of something in one gallery and put that copy in a different gallery in the new format?

Many thanks,
peargrin

    Hi Pear,

You can create a copy of an image by opening the gallery, where the photo that you wish to copy is located - in the ORGANISER. Double click the image that you would like to copy (this will open it in a lightbox mode) - > now at the bottom you will find a TOOLS icon - please click it - > ORGANIZE - > MAKE A COPY. The system will create a copy in the same gallery.

You can then drag it to a gallery of your choice.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    Take care,

    Tom

Why can't we just have a copy button like there is a delete button in the organizer?
    Currently this is rather inefficient.

    cheers

I've found that it's easier to just hit download on a photo, pull it back local and then just upload the copies into the new gallery rather than going the insane steps to copy it using the steps you listed. Sure it's taking up twice as much space on Smugmug's servers, but thats not my problem...

This is completely ridiculous. Something that took 2 clicks in the Old Smug-- (You're looking at the photo. Click on "Tools", Click on "Make a Copy") now takes 4 (or more) in the New Smug? And anyway, we have forever needed a simple "Copy to (such & such) Gallery", one-click tool. Why would the New Smug make it more complicated, when even the Old Smug needed one less click?!

You have to be kidding me!?!?! You have to do it individually, and THEN drag them over? How is that even remotely efficient?

Also, I've discovered that to remove a copy from a gallery you need to do it individually, and then it dumps you into the images original gallery, not the one you where working in. PITA
