So hopefully the wizards are working on it. But under the new sites (Homepage) the images are not drag and drop protected like they used to be. It used to drop a file that didn't have any of the original content.

I do have watermarks on the files for my main page (yeah), and I limited the size to "medium" for the time being. I also left on the right click option too. They are images that I have on facebook anyways, but thought that I should share.

So folks if your worried for the time being, make sure to watermark your images!

What do you mean by "drag and drop protected"?? I have watermarks and RCP on the important stuff (non-family-snaps... ya know, the artsy stuff) but I don't understand what someone might be able to do without this so-called "drag-and-drop protection"?

You can drag and drop images to the desktop if it's open to a lightbox on the main page. So there is no default to have the main pages images no clickable. you only have the option to go to the gallery or a lightbox. All you need to do is to drag and drop to the desktop to save the image now.

I see what you mean, if you click and drag a photo to the desktop, in the old smugmug if you have the gallery set to protected, it would save a file called "spacer.gif" rather than the actual photo. But now it saves the actual photo (at the size it viewable at) The saved file even has the XL code when it appeared on the desktop. The protected setting no longer has any effect other than right click protection.

I wonder if this is related to what someone asked about on Trey Ratcliff's youtube show tonight, that on an ipad using safari browser you could download the photos no matter the security status.

This issue have been resolved - you cannot drag the images from your homepage to the desktop - if the right click protection is turned on - you can try on my homepage:
