Still only Flash slideshows

Why do we still have the need for Flash for the standard slideshows?
That basically forces viewers to install a constant supply of security vulnerabilities....
HTML5 is not that new, is it?

I asked the question on one of the Webexes and was told specifically that there is no Flash anymore - date of the webex was MON 08AUG 20:30 - not sure if they have it up yet.

So we all got lied to.

I don't think anybody is being lied to here. When I use the slideshow, it's definitely HTML5 and not a bit of Flash in sight. It's possible that SmugMug automatically uses Flash on those ancient web browsers that simply don't support the newer HTML5 slideshows.
