Collage Landscape Gallery Style - spacing issue

Does anybody know how to change the "Spacing Between Photos" in the "Collage Landscape" style?

I keep finding the setting then losing it...

I clicked to open a folder, then I clicked Customize, Customize site, all folders. I hovered over the folder box and clicked the wrench icon. With the Basic section showing Collage Landscape, I clicked to the Display tab and adjusted the spacing there.

I then hovered over the box containing galleries, clicked the wrench icon, and went through the same steps there.

From what I can see, on folder pages you can customise spacing, sizes, where titles go etc... but within actually galleries you can't - in the drag&drop interface you get 'area reserved for default smugmug content' and you can't go to any options there

Hi Denise
I tried that but did not help . It fixes the spacing for multiple folders and gallery thumnails within a folder but does not change anything for the individual photos inside a gallery. I guess we will have to resort to some custom css for this.

One of the heroes contacted me about this and said I should be able to do it, but I had to explain that the area was locked. Am I remembering correctly that initially it was customizable, or was that just on the folders?

This css works for removing the spacing in a gallery with collage-landscape

.sm-tiles-row-organic.sm-tiles-spacing-12 .sm-tile-wrapper {
  margin: 0 0 0px 0px;
}

I like 6px borders myself...I put it in a css block for my entire site (which I have not unveiled just yet)

.sm-tiles-row-organic.sm-tiles-spacing-12 .sm-tile-wrapper {
  margin: 0 0 6px 6px;

Unfortunately, that causes a ragged right edge. For example, if you change the margin between photos from 12px to 6px, lines that had three photos on them will have their width reduced by 2 * 6px margins = 12px, but lines that had two photos on them will only have their width reduced by 1 margin, so 6px, meaning that the length of the rows will differ by 6px.

We can't change the spacing between photos using CSS, because the JavaScript layout engine for Collage Landscape sets the image widths to make the lines precisely the right length based on the fixed margin it's programmed with, which is 12px. We really need SmugMug to add the same options for margins that the Multiple Photos block offers.

I don't know how desperately you want this fix, but one workaround is to create a page and add a gallery to it. Then you have the option of different spacing between the collage thumbnails, starting at 1px. The next-smallest option is 6px, which is the same as the default. You can go bigger as well. This takes a bit of extra work and I'm loath to apply it site-wide in case SmugMug decides to implement a permanent fix.
