I had one set of my photos move out of the correct order. I have spent the last three hours trying to place over 500 photos back in order. After completing and hitting the done button some and by some I mean most revert back to the incorrect position. I am not happy with this new site. So far it sucks.

Sad to say, welcome to the club of "haters". I am one.

Not a hater but very frustrated. I like the old site much better. I am going to give them a few weeks to get the bugs out or I will find another site to host my photos.

It's pretty straightforward to organize your photos via the "Organizer" page. Are you still having these issues? If so, please email the Heroes:

I had the same problem at first. While in organize mode, ensure that you have selected 'sort manually' if you wish to manually order photos. Other options include sorting by date taken, file name etc. Hope this helps! :D

I had sort manually clicked the entire time. I have now tried four times and each time the photos revert back to their original position and yes I have been in contact with the Heroes but so far they haven't sorted it out. Just spent the last ninety minutes reorganizing and all for nothing. Totally frustrated. If SM cannot figure this out and soon, I'm done.

I just took a glimpse at all of my different groups and every one is screwed up. I am so pissed off at the moment. I have so much work to do to straighten this crap out. Of course Smugmug needs to get their crap together first. So regret moving over to the new site.

Have you tried to restart your browser? I had a glitch yesterday while so many people were using the site. I'd move a photo block and it would 'jump' back where I moved it. I was about to pull out my luxurious locks. I noticed refreshing during the glitch seemed to help or I organized using the non-manual options such as by date. Sofar today I've not had an issue. Does this describe what was happening to you? If so, send the heroes another email if it's been a while since you've been helped - of course the response time isn't as zippy as usual right now. Good luck!

I heard from the Heroes just a few hours ago. It's not my browser. Such a simple task has turned out to be a major pain.

They don't seem to know. I am going to start looking for another site. I'm done with Smugmug. They were too quick to release this new site. If I have to rebuild each one of my groups of photos then it will be on a site that works.

I was frustrated at first but with every tutorial and webinar I took, I got more comfortable with it. It really is a good product but vastly different than the old SM. The few complaints I had turned out to be me not understanding it.

Hope it works out for you...

It's over. I closed my account. Onward and upward to find a new site. Good luck to everyone trying to figure this out.

Give it some time. I totally agree that the bugs and issues are unfair to us Smuggers and result in the release looking rushed. Yet, they will straighten things out. To redesign 10yrs of blah into something entirely new in a year is impressive, although the pressure and rush wasn't very beneficial. Right before they did this, I looked everywhere for a new website. Not because of anything they did, but because I was bored and wished for more gallery levels. I've got ADHD so I desperately needed the organization. The closest I found was Zenfolio. The price was slightly better too. The problem was there was so little customization and I didn't like the labs they go though. There was also self-fullfilment which I desperately want, but it was clunky and was taking forever to get all my items added. The big reason I didn't defect on SmugMug was the support. I tested them both on Twitter and SmugMug was the first to respond. SmugMug even sent a personal email to inquire why I was leaving. Zenfolio only responded on Twitter. I emailed their version of support and the response was very cut and dry. Not friendly. Even when my trial was up and I requested an extension they were the same despite mentioning considering leaving three years with SmugMug. No attempt to encourage me their way. The also didn't have the same community as we have here on Dgrin. I hope you reconsider...atleast with some time for the bugs to get squashed. There are Smuggers like me who would be proud to help you. Not just the Support Heroes. If you do leave, there is a site to use to transfer photos from SmugMug to Zenfolio. It's listed on their site. Hopefully you'll stay though and give it some time or let us help you. Regardless, good luck and enjoy your hunt!

I've been with smugmug 6 years now, and I completely understand the frustration with this new update. From the outside looking in, it does appear that this update was rushed. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, I really don't know. I along with many others miss some of the things that made customizing our sites easier, but with some hair pulling and cussing, I've managed to get something that I can tolerate. I'm still hoping that some hacks will be found to make it better, but it's only been a couple of days.

There are other alternatives to smugmug, but in my humble opinion none are as complete. Some make designing easier, some are cheaper, some still look a little slicker, but everyone of them have their own unique issues. The customer service at smugmug (although in the last year seems to have taken a slight detour not for the better) is still the best that I've found with hosting sites.

Yes this move was/is frustrating on many levels, but it's still better than leaving in my opinion. I have faith that some smuggers will find the necessary hacks to make this easier and better.

The last straw was when I clicked on "Browse" all of my photos were gone. Could not figure out what was wrong as I had not changed any settings. Just read that it was yet another glitch. Ugh!

I think this was just too many changes too soon for people. It's possible the content blocks for folder/gallery were missing. Mine has glitched too, but the photos are still there. I freaked out at first, but found out that was all it was. ne_nau.gif
