Two (hopefully) simple questions

1) How much time do we have before we are forced to migrate? Is there a "drop dead" date?
2) For all the Gallery links that I have shared with people in the past -- will they still link to the correct Galleries in the new designs? Or are those links dead?

Thanks,
Nick

Both answers are right in the SmugMug-supplied help pages: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/topics/538899
try there first, before posting thumb.gif

Actually, the answers in the documentation are incomplete, which is why I'm asking for clarity.

    1) It says I'll have "many months" of preview mode. I would like to know a specific date, even if it is preliminary. I am perfectly happy with my legacy site, and I'm perfectly content to stick with it as long as I can -- I just don't have the time or patience to to tinker with evolving systems.
    2) It says that existing URLs "should work assuming that Album and Image IDs are there". I can't find any information about what Album and Image IDs are, and I have no idea if they are in the links provided. So, again, my question is if I send a Gallery Link (as provided to me when I hit the Copy button in the Get a Link section) from the legacy system, will that work in the new system?

I'm guessing they're waiting to see how fast existing users move to the new system. If it seems like it's going slow, then they'll probably wait longer until it seems like most people have moved over. And then they'll decide when the deadline would be. That's my guess at least.

I suspect that to be the case about gauging the uptake rate before defining the "drop dead date". But I would really like to know if the current thought process is 6 months, or a year, or more?

My honest opinion (stated elsewhere) is that legacy mode needs to remain, at minimum, for a year from 7/30/2013 simply because the "new" SmugMug is not what any of us paid for before that date.

Features and functionality have been removed that were part of the "package" I paid for (most notably Javascript). If SM intends to remove those features before my subscription expires (mid-May 2014) I will be asking for a partial refund to compensate for the reduction in services.
