Japanese Rat Snake

My Wife and I just returned from a fabulous trip to Japan. While there we visited Hakone and ran across this slinky critter on the edge of the parking lot at the lake. I was a little more than 3' from him/her when I took these shots.

Thanks Pam. I have been told the eye is covered with a blue sheath when it is about to shed it's
skin.
