Photo sizes in homepage collage

I'm having trouble getting my homepage collage to look right. I'm using the Zoe layout, and the collage is set up in a stretchy grid. In firefox, it looks great. Chrome makes the text looks like crap. Explorer looks fine I think, but the issue that seems to be in all is that some of the photos have essential parts cut off. I really had to play around with the settings to get it to look right, it seems I'd put it one way and one photo would be at the bottom on it's own, or it just wouldn't be lined up. I finally got it right but now the photos are cut off. Is there anything I can do about this?
