Why Remove Java??????

To any SM support Hero

I have a question concerning the removal of Java Script options from "new" updated sites.
Currently Java will work while we are in the sandbox (quicksand box) but will be stripped if we go live
Why?????
Really so many of us (even Fastline Media who you brought up on the roll out) used the power of Java to add features to our site. like the Fastline fullscreen slide show on our home page, Code to insert a download button, Code to auto-open a gallery , Code to allow Clientlogin.
So Again Why remove Java????

If SM is hell bent removing Java what options do we have in replacing the lost features mentioned above???

    I just want to point out that Java and Javascript are not the same thing (despite the similar names).
