The Menu on the home page seems to be transparent by default. Is there any way to make it not entirely transparent (adjust the alpha). I Have my menu at the top of the page, and it works great, but when I scroll down, I can no longer read it well through the images it ends up over

I just tried it myself, the alpha is really in the theme settings. Try to set a opaque color for the header first, then adjust the alpha slider in Edit Theme Settings > Background. If your menu is on top in the header content box you have to adjust the header alpha.
