Today's playing in the leaky sandbox revealed an option that wasn't there for me yesterday:

At last I can access the place to customise the CSS:

Puzzled as to why it's taken so long for the option to appear for me, but it's a step in the right direction :thumb

I'll play with the options tomorrow.

Who knows, maybe then there'll more for me to see, stuff that other folk can see but which are currently hidden from me?

Are you sure. I've found CSS edits in various places, I though that was there from launch? (I haven't used it)

Yes, the ability to define CSS in the theme has been there since launch.

Well, it may well have been there since launch, but it's not been visible to me until today.

The good news is that I can do loads of stuff in "Create theme", the tinkering shows onscreen behind the options panel. The bad news is that it won't save any changes headscratch.gif

Maybe it's a Basic Account limitation thing?

Thought it was too good to be true.

Basic accounts don't allow for full customization. You would need to upgrade to Power to have the full capabilities. You can see the account differences if you scroll down on this page - http://www.smugmug.com/features.

These features are not included in basic accounts:
    • 21+ modern, premade site designs
    • Create your own designs, no coding needed
    • Create your own themes
    • Optional customization via HTML and CSS

Yeah, I've looked at that a lot and I'm still baffled as to why I'm suddenly able to see an option that I can use but can't save. A sensible thing would be to make non-applicable options greyed-out, non-functional or just not show them at all.

My guess is that is a bug. If you want to customize your site then you might consider a Power account.

Lamah just posted a summary of questions and answers from one of the online demos and Q&A. It included this:
    Q. Is there any difference in the customization between Basic and Power?
    A. Yes, there is. There are basically two levels of customization available on the site. The Basic account does not have access to designs. So on your homepage, you can add a few content blocks (just the basics), and you have access to pre-built themes. You can adjust the colors and fonts on your site, and you can adjust the look of your homepage, but you will not be able to customize the look of the rest of your site.

The other levels have the same amount of customization.

    You don't say!

Laughing.gif - what I've got now doesn't work properly, I'd be a fool to pay even more for it.

Thanks for the other info, it's much appreciated thumb.gif
