Want to stop previewing already!

I stupidly decided to try to look in more detail at the new templates for the 'new' smugmug. Most are wall to wall images, the horror I tried to escape by leaving flickr for smugMug. So I wanted to stop messing with that until things settle down and I have more time to figure out if any of the new themes can be customized to better match my preferences for an adequate emphasis on the text as well as the images.

But.....every time I come to smugmug, it puts me back to the 'chose a theme' view. I have to go through a bunch of hoops to view my site in legacy format, and if I log out and come back, I have to do the same again.

How do I stop being forced to deal with the preview mess every login?

And anyone replying 'jsut pick a theme already' should be ashamed of themselves.

I thought that "view legacy" did put you back to the legacy site? Seems like a bug to me.

That works just fine as long as I stay logged in, I'm fine, but for other reasons I frequently quit my browser which logs me out, and on going back, I have the same thing again. I want to stop the preview process until other braver souls work out more of the bugs, documentation is better, and the heroes are more accessible and less overwhelmed.

Have you checked the "Remember Me" box? If you have, you should be logged in each time you restart the browser.

I set my browser to delete cookies etc when I quit it for security reasons, and do so several times a day. That's why this is such a pain in the behind.

I bet this is the reason you keep having to go through the process time and time again mwink.gif

Can you turn that off and try quiting the browser to see if it is a cookie issue?

I really should be able to TURN OFF the process, rather than have to go forward or deal with this junk every time, but support finally got back to me and admitted there is no way to turn it off once it's started. Really really lousy design--the 'go forward or die' after all the 'you can turn off preview at any time'--well, not really, unless you stay logged in as yourself in perpetuity. Not nice.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just trying to figure out what's causing the problem (I don't work for SmugMug or I could probably ask).

A cookie is a reasonable way of maintaining that state though (and I get the issues with them).

Maybe you could use one specific browser for SmugMug for the time being? That browser is set to not delete cookies, and you can do your normal web browsing/cookie deleting at the same time on another browser. I know this isn't the solution you are looking for, but the solution you seek is not available. We are just trying to help you find a way to accomplish what you are after.

    Thanks!
