javascript in galleries still working

I maybe wrong, but I think JavaScript is still working in the galleries. I have a purchase agreement under my images, and on my old site it was a jotform, pop-up. It still works in the gallery!

All I see is a notice that the gallery is empty:

EDIT: Actually, it loaded this time! I wonder if it works because you're using links with "javascript:" in the "href" portion, instead of <script> tags which are blocked.

Click the "pricing" link on his nav bar. I think his link changed or is off.
Now... how did he do it?

That's what it looks like to me. Maybe someone who is better at searching the code (Allen/JFriend) will take a look at this and can find something that I'm missing.

No I tried that with the regular pages. I think it is because SM is still running javascript on the galleries. Therefore any javascript would still work on those pages.

No, I went to his pricing page and he is not using Javascript there. If you hover over the buttons you will see that they refernce a 'URL' to separate location (jotform) where his order forms are setup:

    <a href="https://secure.jotform.us/pipercreekphotography/giftcert">

that is on my live site...what I am referring to is on the gallery page I referenced above. I have tried to post the page but everytime I do it show's gallery is empty. I will try to post it again.

No one else can see it then but you. All we see is 'Gallery is Empty.' It's basically a blank page. Try turning off 'Unlisted' or 'Private' so others can see what you are trying to describe. Otherwise no one can use it but you.

It looks like Smugmug is allowing (or failing to strip) the javascript in your javascript: URLs. I doubt they intend for this to be the case as they quite adamantly seem to want no custom user javascript in the new SM site right now.

hmm.... I hope they do turn a blind eye to workarounds. they've exerted far too much control over user customisations in the new design as it is.

is that how the fast line media sites stlil do funky stuff?

If it only works for the owner then it is effectively blocked and follows current policy.

    Which URL?

If you go to the original posted above it's not even displaying for the owner when he logs out:

    http://www.pipercreekphotography.com/Pages/Pricing

I'm now only seeing 'Page Not Found.'

Out of the links he posted only one works:

    http://pipercreekphotography.smugmug.com/Pages/Pricing/n-HxQ5g deal.gif

However even more interesting is that if you go to his home page and click on 'pricing' in his nav bar there is a different working version of said page.

Result there are 2 different pages both working in new smug!! thumb.gif

All I see is the same "Gallery is Empty" from the URL you referenced.

From his Menu > Pricing there is no custom Javascript, only links to an order form (See code snipet I posted above).

Attached is the screen shot from the link I posted (same link as Paul posted).

I'm a coding novice - so if those pages were created without java I apologize - I misinterpreted his original post.

Are you saying everything he has on both the pages is css/html only?

Either way can someone please post instructions on this for the rest of us?

Really interesting that fastlinemedia is allowed to run JavaScript.. Feels very discriminating for all us other users for sure... :(

On that page which is the same one I view through the Menu > Pricing it's only using a link to form. If you view source you can see the code. In IE you can go to Tools > Developer Tools to view source. Also hover over the 'Buy It' button and you'll see the link to jotform.

I think something like this is what you guys are after if you want to still have some selling features while avoiding JS.

Considering that the fastline guy actually spoke at the unveiling, I'd like to know just what sort of arrangment there is between them and smugmug. It seems pretty clear that Smugmug has removed certian functionalities for their users but not for fastline, effectively increasing demand for fastline's services. What is smugmug getting in return?

I hope that it was just a clever loophole Fastline had found. I would be concerned if functionality had been removed from power users purely to push them towards 3rd party customisers. Clarification needed from SM.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Derek. (Re:"I see said the blind man!")

To be honest I've gone thru countless threads similar to this one as I had just started to implement PayPal ordering thru my legacy site (I recently renewed as Power down from prior long time Pro account)

As my customers are event attendees and are all local - so no reason to pay the new higher rates for pro when I can self-fulfill using Pay Pal and high quality home printer. Now I'm just letting the dust settle to see who can come up with a 'new smug' version of Pay Pal ordering that I can add. Noting the fill in the gallery name and file number all html version some have done isn't the optimal method in my case...lucky I'm patient, I just hope it comes about before the legacy shutdown!!

    Thanks again!

All signs seems to point that way. When the Fastline guy was presenting I was very excited to see some of the samples he showed, not knowing that we have to "GET" Fastline service to be able to achieve those website look.

I emailed SM last week with some questions along with this very topic. SM replied and answered my other questions but did not give me any reply about this "fastline" issue.

It is very disappointing that Smugmug would do that to us long time customers. I hope someone from Smugmug can clarify this if we are wrong.

The buttons are html with javascript links... I would like to know how I can get this to work in the new SM pricing page which is just a page, with HTML.
