Unlisted gallery/page on navbar

I've just unveiled my new site, despite there being a number of things not quite there yet.

I had to see what it looked like when not logged in - and it's not quite what I thought.

At the top level I have an unlisted folder called Portfolio, with two galleries in it. I also have an unlisted page called About at the top level.

I dont want these to show up on my 'browse' page, hence setting them to unlisted.

In my nav menu, I have links to each of the two galleries in my Portfolio folder, and to my about page.

When not logged in these menu items do not show!

Unlisted should not mean hidden completely - just 'not listed' - I've explicitly created menu items to them - under what circumstances would I want those menu items to be hidden? It makes no sense to me.

Does anyone have a work around for this kind of setup?

I reported this bug. When linking you need to direct the link to the custom url, not directly to the page. That allows it to work.

Yeah I thought that would probably work. I'm creating my own top level browse page as a custom page at the moment and having those unlisted things listed but not on my new page. If I can't make something that looks better i'll do what you suggest.

    I've got the opposite request...

I have a menu item that I want to make appear or disappear from time to time, and was hoping to be able to control that by simply making the gallery, page or folder behind the menu item Listed or Unlisted, without having to change the menu coding.

So I would want to be able to set up the explicit menu link and then only need to change the Listed/Unlisted property of the gallery, page or folder to control whether it appears.

Maybe this needs to be something you set up when you establish the menu link - Do you want this link to display the item if the gallery, page or folder is Hidden or Unlisted (to those not logged in).

Currently, when I am in the Sandbox, the system knows the page I am linking to is Unlisted, and specifically states that, but it makes no difference to what is shown to those not logged in.
