Tuesday will be 7 days for the unveiling of Smugmug 2.0, there has been a large amount of posts on DGrin and other sites about issues with old and new. In the past Don and Chris have promised to better communicate with the customers about whats going on.. I understand not giving away new features because of well, lawyers but, how about letting us know how legacy site issues cause by the 2.0 are being handled how much stuff is being knocked of the bug list and how requests for 1.0 features are being moved to 2.0 that don't seem to be appearing. I honestly haven't had many problems but in 2 weeks I will start my sports season and Smart Galleries are huge for me, there appears to be some issues with keywords and many other things.. Can we get some updates or a general perusing of the DGRIN forums to answer some of the questions? Just hoping you will communicate whats up.. I would just like to hear whats up.. Not asking for promises buy, my photo business is directly affected by yours ..

Thanks

I honestly think the help pages need to be update and a style guide release so we don't have to fumble through videos to do the site.. I unveiled today so that I can work on the new and help get that to be the best it can and not send error reports about legacy broken..

Who else is ready for an entire document about how to create a theme and such!! Their has to be one somewhere...

David, most of the issues I think you are referring to are fixed. You should have no problems with keywords and smart galleries. That's how I still handle alot of my albums. I just uploaded a couple photos, assigned them keywords and made a smart gallery that pulled them in.

That's fine for new Smart Galleries. But there have been many problems listed all over these forums about existing Smart Galleries (from Legacy sites), There had already been un-fixed Legacy bugs with Smart Gallery (esp. keyword-based) settings having to be re-saved, or other workarounds, for them to actually work. Some of those bugs have continued. This highly concerns me, as I have many many Smart Galleries. Most of mine are not keyword-based, but some are, and there are other issues with the regular Smart Galleries.

The most painful problem other than needing work-arounds has been (all along, & still) that it's so difficult to identify a gallery as a Smart Gallery. I've never been able to figure out why SmugMug introduced this very handy feature but left out the most important detail: actually being able to tell (within every gallery and every organizing or settings tool) that a gallery is a smart gallery! This is so critically needed, and prevents some of us from even considering migrating. Please, please, please, SmugMug... I've begged before, but now I'm on my knees... FIX this-- make Smart Galleries identifiable everywhere on my site (to the owner) and please don't make people re-save settings in order to make keyword-based ones work! Does SmugMug not understand why this so critical? I've never gotten a useful answer on it. Do they not comprehend how crawling all over your site to try to figure out which is the original gallery / photo is crazy-making???

I would really like to have a guide describing what all the settings in Themes do, what setting each pixel size affects. How to adjust the height of the header in the Duke theme can you make it somewhat transparent. The help pages need to be way more robust, explain to us what every button does and slider. That way we can decide how to use them..

    Thanks,
    David Evertsen

    Hi David,

I sent you a couple follow up emails tonight, in response to the Help Desk tickets the Heroes were helping you out with.

In themes, the transparency for each individual section is set in the "Backgrounds" tab. Alpha = Transparency. Just move that slider and you should see the transparency change.

    Hope this helps!
