Collage Landscape does not fit

hi,

I am using the collage landscape setting in my New Smug Mug but it does not completely fill the site (content area)

and some photos are shown only half?

is there a way to increase spacing between the pics and to increase the sizes of the pics? currently most of the photos are too small for my personal taste...

    Are you talking about the actual galleries? If so, there are a couple of feature requests out there you might take a look at:

    http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/4258882-allow-galleries-to-be-configured-like-folder-pages
    http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/4258675-add-the-ability-to-change-the-photo-size-for-the-

    I use collage landscape for my galleries, and it does fill the content area. I wonder if you have changed the side margins of your site somewhere. Can you give an example of photos shown only half? I'm not sure what you mean by that. But, for increasing the spacing and size of pics in galleries, I don't think it's possible. Unless someone has some CSS out there...

    hi, thanks for the reply - I see I am not the only one requesting a little more customize-ability within the new SmugMug.

    I had a similar Collage style on my old SmugMug made by one of the experts - maybe this might work even better here? because spacing etc. was flexible there I think. The only thing necessary was to add some CSS and set the keyword "montage" to the Gallery.

    Anyway I have recognized that the ftting/filling of the style depends on the browser headscratch.gif and does not behave anyhow logically?

    starting with the Homepage and my photos there:

    - Firefox:
    * photos are arranged to fit the Screen and it looks pretty good althought the first 18 pics do have the same size as they are all landscape photos
    * so Collage landscape setting makes 3 columns of the same size with 6 lines with all the same size
    * than the 7th line is different as there is a Portrait Format pic and the two landscape style Fotos are adapted accordingly
    * in the last line, the last photo sometimes fits to the bottom right Corner, sometimes not?

    - IE:
    * similar behaviour like in Firefox
    * but last line does never fit to screen

    - Safari:
    * similar to Firefox, but starts in line 4 to change sizes of landscape pics (no logic behind? or is it just random)
    * and the last line does not fit to screen? sometimes it does...

    - Chrome:
    * behaves completely different; makes it own sizes and positioning and looks very nice sometimes
    * sometimes last line fits, sometimes not?

    there is no logic behind all these things...

    I can remember that SmugMug said, never mind on which screen, iOS, Android, mac PC - it always fit?

    and in the Gallery, my the photos are cropped on the right edge? this might indeed be a margin issue?

    I have screenshot of all the things, but don't want to post them all here - if necessary I can do!

    As far as I can tell, the sizing of the images is completely random and changes with each refresh (at least in Safari and Firefox, which I use most frequently). I have a bug report out there for that: http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=237727. But, it sounds like it's also related to the fact that there aren't many controls for gallery customization.

    I don't see the right-hand cropping issue when I look at your site. But, if you want to play with the margins, go to Customize Site and to the layout tab. There's a field for side margins.

    well I am not sure if it is about margins? please see the screenshots attached.

    first the Gallery view with the cropped Images on the right side and three times the lightbox veiw, where the whole pic shown...

    I have the same problem too. Chaniging the margins doesn't solve it. Neither did changing the container size or adding a sidebar on the right.

    yeah, I can see it now on Firefox. I'll have to try Safari in a bit. I see it on my site too, I just didn't notice it before because my pics are more like snapshots (not as close up). Unless someone comes along with some magical CSS to fix it, it'd probably be good to enter as a bug report.

    This is why I dumped the collage. I had it looking good, then I went back and it was different, uneven as you say. It really sucked, so I lost the collage on my page. Some of the changes we're seeing aren't exactly for the better.

    the really sad thing is, that it was sold as one of the main "improvements"....

    maybe the CSS from this thread works in New SmugMug as well?

    But... other layouts have cropped images, using an auto crop. I have a customized crop for all photos, for a reason. The auto crop of the grid layout is horrendous.

    right, but I think this is not about cropping. meaning any smugmug crop or auto crop setting.

    its just a bug!

    or the auto crop setting is: crop the right edge. full stop. :ivar

    I am sure it is a bug and has nothing to do with any settings, margins, etc.
    because if you customise the site - set margins, etc. everything is fine and correct right. but as soon as you publish, the right edge is changed...

    anyway the behaviour is not very nice...any CSS specialist around? thumb.gif

    That was my customisation, but it's impossible on the new SmugMug as JavaScript is not allowed.

    It mostly depends on the exact width of your browser window, which will vary between your browsers. A slight change can cause a dramatic shift in the layout of the images on the page.
    * photos are arranged to fit the Screen and it looks pretty good althought the first 18 pics do have the same size as they are all landscape photos

    I expect SmugMug to eventually add the same settings for Collage Landscape as we have when it's in a Multiple Photos block, which will allow you to tick "vary height" in that situation which tries to mix things up a bit more.
    - IE:
    * similar behaviour like in Firefox
    * but last line does never fit to screen

    This may be due to IE missing features that would allow that final photo to be stretched appropriately, especially if you have Right Click Protection turned on for the gallery.
    * similar to Firefox, but starts in line 4 to change sizes of landscape pics (no logic behind? or is it just random)

    It's probably just random based on your window width.

    Nothing has changed since launch. About the specific problem of the right edge of the collage being cropped off, I think that is theme-dependant, but you might try this CSS to fix it:
    .sm-gallery-roworganic .sm-gallery-tiles-container {
      margin-right:-15px;
    }

    Add this to a CSS box for the entire site.
    .sm-tiles-row-organic .sm-tiles-list {
        overflow: visible;
        margin: 0 0 0 -18px;
      }

    This did't solve the problem - even when I tried margin-right:-55px

    This solved the problem on the right, but created a problem on the left -

    Change the -18px, go to -13 and see how that is.

    Thanks, I went all the way down to -6 and now it looks good.

    There are so many threads of people reporting the same problem, I just don't get how come SM hasn't fixed it.

    I'm getting sleepy, so quickly browsed this thread. If I missed something, please ignore me.

    I seem to be seeing folks trying to adjust their margins/padding in the actual content block, right? Did you also adjust the Margins in the Layout tab in the customizer? Is your layout Stretchy or Fixed?

    Yes, I did. Margins, container width, size of side-bars. You name it...
    Nothing worked, but this code did.
