A few questions re: the new customization

I have read a few Q&A on here, but I don't think I've seen the answers I'm looking for.

1. If I switch to the new customization, does that mean that there is no going back? Switch and done?
2. If I do not switch to the new customization, can I continue to customize the "old" way?
3. Will I eventually be "forced" to switch to the new customization, and if so - when?

I believe that's it for now.

Thanks Frank - I had read quite a few threads, but that is one I did not read. My apologies for asking questions that had already been asked. I just couldn't think of a way to search for my answers.
