Slideshow - click to reach the gallery

This was a setting that was available on the old SM.
See a nice photo on the homepage slideshow? >> click it >> go to its gallery.

Now it's not possible.
That's the help desk's reply.

Does anyone have a walk-around?
I do have a slideshow on my homepage but I'm not sure it's worth the space.

This question has come up many times in the past week, I haven't seen any thread that included a work-around. I do fully expect that before too long either SM will natively allow for it or someone will build / be allowed to build a good secondary option. You could check in the Feature Request section to see if it's there and submit it if it isn't.
