What the Heck?!? -- "Welcome to Beautiful"

After unveiling, working on the site off and on for a week, mostly done, I just had a surprise.

I logged in, and now every time I get a popup for "Welcome to beautiful" as though it's inviting me to see my own site. But I'm unveiled and done.

What the heck!?!

The good news is that it doesn't seem to appear for visitors.

Anyone else having this nonsense?

OK. The first few times I just hit escape to get rid of it. When I clicked on the "Show me" bar at the bottom, so far it hasn't come back again.

But still, a bit of a surprise, I was afraid I was back in the not-unveiled mode or something.

Maybe just a bit too much "let's fix stuff fast" and light on the QC in the aftermath, perhaps?

It happened once to me today but didn't seem to affect my site. It looks just fine.

I had it, but I must have misread it. I thought it said 'Welcome beautiful' and as I am (beautiful) I thought it was just some fan mail...rolleyes1.gifrolleyesrolleyes1.gif

I thought it said 'Welcome to Broken' but I misread it too. (Or did I?)

Yep...I get this also. It makes me nervous! I was just about finished with all my changes and ready to unveil!

Of course, 'beautiful' is an adjective, not a noun, and as such is restricted to describing something. So, to say 'welcome to beautiful' is meaningless. It's like saying 'welcome to horrible' or 'welcome to delicious'. headscratch.gif

looks like a warning box left over from an abadoned plan to switch people over to new Smug without the whole preview bit.

I'm still having this problem...and it is a bit annoying. Has it gone away for others?

Actually beautiful must also be a noun too or 'she is beautiful' would be a grammatically incorrect sentence. ne_nau.gif

    That's an adjective, not a noun. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/beautiful?show=0&t=1376037884

On the other hand beauty can be a noun as in 'She's a famous beauty' http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/beauty

If you want to really wrap yourself in logorrheic verbosity you could take a look at the word list I've been collecting for the past 25 years. How geeky is that! rolleyes1.gifhttps://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByHpUt05bvcmNUJvbkctWGxTbGc/edit?usp=sharing Got a Kindle version too, if you want it...headscratch.gif

That's not geeky, it's common sense to have a ready list of obscure words to use in retaliation against txt-spk :D

I have a tatty old notebook (yeah, paper not tech) where I record all of the colloquial contextual acronyms and abbreviations that I've gleaned from old-hands where I've studied or worked over the years. My personal favourites are MBWA, BOHICA and RALAC.

Anyway, have a few more for your list:

    banjaxed
    festrous
    contrafabulised
    Yippee ki-yay, footer-muckers!

Ummmm...did I miss the post where the issue people are having with the repeated posting has been forwarded to be resolved? Will be unveiling soon and don't want this stuff heading my way.

I can't answer that part, but mine has not returned since the initial posting. Though I noticed the conspicuous absence of addressing why it had appeared, despite the interesting comedy.

Maybe it's just broken. If we're really unlucky, they might fix it!
