Unreadable/broken fonts on Galleries and Captions - bug?

I have checked if this was reported before but couldn't find anything in regard.

I have customized and migrated my site using "ARROW" theme. I didn't touch anything on the fonts, just colors and minor other things.

What I find is that the fonts used on the Galleries captions and Image descritpions are quite unreadable but only when seen in the PC browser, with my iphone they look ok. I checked it with firefox and chrome and using both win7 and winxp machines, same results. also lots of people reported me the same issue.

A gallery page on my website as example:

You should see clearly the problem (mouse over on the gallery's image or on the description of each single image in the gallery), could it be an issue due to the stretchy auto re-sizing?

Is it just the fact that the words are semi-transparant on a semi-transparent background? In this thread you can see some CSS I added to my Theme's CSS (should work in other spots too) in an effort to make the words more readable:

Hi Andy, ,thanks for the reply, I tried your fix and didn't seem to fix my problem. I have actually changed the font and now the text is readable, so I believe it was an issue of the standard font used (quicksand).
