Info bar customisation

Can I change the colour or even better, the transparency, of the bottom
info bar which I have appearing over photos and galleries? Reason being I find this hard to read on top of some images.

Yes that helps to change the colour of bg and text, but i'd really like to control the alpha also - I figure there is probably a very simle CSS that allows that (?)

the css in there did have the alpha listed, it was the .85 part (shown below for convenience):

.sm-user-ui .sm-tile-content > .sm-tile-info
{
    background-color: rgba(205, 207, 210, .85);
    color: rgba(0, 0, 0, .85);
}

The closer that number is to 1 the less transparent it is.
