Mouseover thumbnails in galleries?

Back in Basic Legacy with the SmugMug theme, a mouseover of any of the thumbnails in a Gallery would pop up a text box containing the image's caption. IIRC it was a default action, and I found it really useful.

Now I'm in New/Power, with a slightly modified version of the SmugMug theme. The view in Gallery is similar to Legacy, but I don't get any thumbnail mouseover action.

Has this been lost, or is there a setting for it that I've yet to find?

To be honest, I don't remember this in Legacy. Was it custom code that made this possible?

No custom code, I just chose a theme and it happened.

Here's a screen shot. It shows the photo caption in the alt tag.
    <img id="Tiny_2472928409" class="draggable imgBorder"
[COLOR=Red]alt="Western Grebe and Ruddy Ducks Ellis Bay Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary"
[/COLOR] title="Western Grebe and Ruddy Ducks Ellis Bay Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary"
    ...

BTW, the NewSmug have no tags, alt or title tags on gallery photos/thumbs. That's the reason the hover
    doesn't show on NewSmug.

Hmm, I see, thanks for that bad news. I did see another thread about alt tags but didn't think that tags were the cause of this issue. Now I'm a bit older and a lot wiser thumb.gif

Do you suppose that some sort of CSS wizardry could solve the photo caption issue? I'm not fluent in CSS - I know that the "C" stands for Caramel and that one of the "S"s stands for Shortcake, other than that I'm rather uneducated in the art.

I think I read Smug is looking into the tags.

This was baseline legacy functionality. But many people found the "bubbles" distracting and removed them with javascript function delHover per SM's customization #27. So if the Alt/Title tags are restored, we'll again need an option to hide them.

The major reason they're needed is for when crawlers visit your site and see the image tags. I don't think hiding
their visibility would effect this as long as the tags remain in the page source, but I could be wrong.
