If I change default Gallery Style, is it retroactive?

I have Unveiled my new SM site (looks great!), and presently have many galleries - each set to the Gallery Style I prefer for that gallery. I have many more galleries set to Journal or Collage Portrait than I do to my Theme's default style, which is SmugMug.

My question is:
If I change the Default Galley Style for my Entire site, will it change the view of my existing Galleries, or will it only apply to galleries I create from that point forward?

It wouldn't be bad if only those few galleries I still have set to the default SmugMug style got changed, but I definitely do not want to reset ALL my existing galleries to the new Default Style.

Also, will the webpage that builds when a Keyword is clicked display in whatever new Default Style I choose?

Changing the default gallery style will change all existing galleries that are set to the style "Design's default". It will not change galleries that already have a specific style selected.

I went into the organizer, selected groups of galleries that I wanted to change to be default, and did a bulk change settings to change the style from my previous explicitly selected style to Design's default.
