Question: Layout on main page only?

It appears that only on the main page does the option for 'Layout' appear. On the main page I can control the size and spacing of my thumbnails, but in other folders I cannot. About all I can alter on the folder pages is the them. Am I missing something, or is that just the way it is??

I found that if it's a Basic account that's that way it is. If it's a Power account or higher it's a doddle to do such changes.

I really don't see why Smug bother with the basic account. The difference is just $20 a year ($40 v $60) between basic and power. I would have thought it would be better to offer just Power as the entry level and make it about $55 as more people would be subscribing. http://www.smugmug.com/features

Been there, I know how it feels to be led to believe that you can do things but then find out that you can't. It's a frustrating waste of time.

Couldn't agree more. A straight $50 sounds right to me but I'm no financial guru. It would certainly reduce the range of problems that the Heroes have to deal with, so that would be a time-saver even if it wasn't a money-saver. It's a "span of control" thing.
