hello!
smug mug hero Amanda Beck suggested i check in here for a solution for the following.

i would love it on my home page (www.apictureofnectar.com) for users to select from the menu "View Pictures by Year" and be taken to another page that displays various folders (containing galleries) by year. Subsequently, I would love it if the clicker could click on the year (e.g. "2009") and be taken then to a page with the various gallery options (likely by month) for that particular year. THEN, the user could click the month they are interested in and see the gallery for that particular month/year combo.

Anyone come up with a solution on how to do this?

thanks so much in advance!!

That's relatively easy. I have something very similar on my site (unfortunately password protected, so I can't share it).

Do you just want one gallery for each Month / Year combination? Or do you want to have multiple galleries?

You start by going to your homepage, click on Organise / Create / Folder
Then create a folder called "Date".

Inside this folder, create a number of different folders - one for each year.

Inside each year folder, you either create galleries for each month, or a folder for each month and put the galleries inside that folder.

You folder structure will look something like

    - Date
    - 2013
    - Jan 2013
    - Gallery 1
    - Gallery 2
    - Feb 2013
    - Gallery 1
    - Gallery 2
    - 2012
    - Jan 2012
    - Feb 2012
    - 2011

One you have done that, add an item to your menu, called "By Year", with links to the "Date" folder. If you want, you can automatically create a sub-menu item for each year, by choosing "Include Folder Contents" = "On"

    I hope that this helps,

    Paul
