Recent Pictures Changes

I am organizing folders and galleries within my site. Also, have my home page displaying my most recent galleries/pictures. While I have not added any new pictures to my site, those galleries that have any type of modification is being moved to the front of the class.
Is there a way to edit gallery settings and locations, without making them appear as if I uploaded new pictures to that gallery?
