Creating a copy of my site....

I have my site at a point where I don't want to change it....but I DO want to take a copy of it "right now" and play with THAT version. Just changing the theme will get me part way there, but I'd also like to totally change my Homepage .....

And I REALLY do not want to mess up what I have right now!

I tried to go to Customize, create a new design - then select my current design and save it as another name. Yep, it just changed the name....instead of giving me a new design to play with. I saw no way to "create a copy".

Anyone know how to do this?

    Drop shadow on slide show....
First - The drop shadow on my slide show puts the shadow on the left and bottom edges of the images.

I would like the shadow to be on the RIGHT and bottom edges.

What do I need to change? (I know NOTHING about coding...sorry...!)

Second - I MIGHT want to change the shadow to another color, like white. What coding would I use for that?

    Thanks so much!!!!!

I don't think you can. At least, I haven't found a way yet. Rename does just that, as you said. I have taken a backup of my CSS blocks - just copy them to a Windows notepad file (it's unformatted). Under legacy you could get an email sent to you of all your code, but now it's in various places that doesn't seem to be possible.

    Thanks for the response!

YIKES! For being 100% customizeable, we really have to way to try out changes.

I've spent soooo much time getting to this point! I do NOT want to risk messing it up!

I do NOT understand coding and it took a lot of effort to get this far! Laughing.gif! My side is just "OK"......but I'd really like to try a dramatically different background and home page.

Looks good to me. excellent shots - especially the birds. I like this one http://butlerkid.smugmug.com/BirdsandFlowers/Hummingbirds2/Hummingbirds/i-H6bbKwg/A

Your image titles in the gallery are rather hard to read in red.

You could create a new unlisted page and manually add everything to it that you currently have on your homepage. Then you can experiment on this copy, leaving the real homepage untouched.

Is there a way to change the font color for folders and galleries? The color is OK for the left side bar menu....but indeed I'd like to change it for the folders and galleries!

You could make a second design. Over the weekend I made a new design, playing around with some video for possible tutorials and could save and go back to edit the new design. You create a new site design and choose a template to use but when you are done customizing it, you click Done and Publish Later. You'll still have your current site but if you want to go through the work of making a second copy by doing this you could. You access your second design by choosing new design again and you will see your current design and your second design.

Thanks, Tom, I give it another try. Maybe the trick is to Publish Later..... I thought when I logged out, if I hadn't Published the changes would be lost.

I'd also be very interested in this. As with the OP, I have spent many hours getting my site just so and it would be useful to save a back-up.

It would also be helpful if when you choose a different template if it could copy across all of your settings from your old one (eg logo, menu items in the navbar, social icons etc) to the new one.

Don't forget to go to SETTINGS and give it a new name when you're done with your changes. Then when you PUBLISH LATER, it will store with the new name. It's gets confusing otherwise. I really wish there was just a SAVE AS button. It would be much more intuitive than using the SETTINGS button,.

It would be nice to have a simple button to FOLLOW threads without having to use NEW REPLY to get to the Notification button.

And you can unsubscribe a number of threads in one go by going to MORE/SUBSCRIBED THREADS ticking the ones you don't want any more and selecting unsubscribe from the menu at the bottom of the page. I only discovered that one the other day headscratch.gif Or you can unsubscribe a single item from the menu at the top of the thread.
