Lots of missing images this morning..

A lot of my site looks like this at the moment. Are others seeing this, reloading brings some of them back but then others may vanish. Not only the thumbnails but also the larger preview images are sometimes missing.

This has been a problem ever since the "new smugmug" came online. My site has been showing lots of those. Especially in smart galleries or when the images were collected images. They are apparently experiencing an absolutely enormous surge of uploads and generally increased activity that is overloading their system and are scrambling to scale up.

FFS im getting this today on my Legacy site, ive just got back from a Event/shoot and have a further 700 photos to load up with people waiting to view, i look in yesterdays gallery and theres random pictures missing ! also in other random galleries. really not funny at all. had the download image tab go missing again last night and was alerted to it by a client trying to download there pictures, although it seems to be back now. im also finding the site very slow..

This is not good enough Smug Mug your competitors must laughing there socks off at this mess you have created, this is my job and income thats being messed with

Yes, getting the same thing. Reloading repeatedly adds more images and eventually the page will load them all, but we can hardly expect our visitors to do this.

Don't know how widespread this is but Service Provider ComCast has been having constant service interruptions over the past few days. Still have alerts on their home page for my area (southeast Georgia). May be affecting routers elsewhere. Just a thought.

Yep also reported here - http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=238846 to no avail. I 'unveiled' this morning and already people are telling me that there are some missing which is a little embarrassing!

I have not had the problem myself, but here's what was reported by someone up in Wisconsin trying to view my site, who wrote me to complain:

I just got to see some of the photos but sometimes the complete photo did not load or the screen was freezing. Earlier it showed the event screen but no photos showed up.

I never could reproduce it, but he finally just gave up. That's bad.

Just to be sure I just checked on three different machines in the house, with three different browsers. All are showing the same missing images.

FWIW, I'm seeing lots of gaps here when I go to those links. The pics that do load are indeed loaded very quickly, but some don't load at all and the gaps don't get filled by the pics that should be in them. UK, XP SP3, firefox 23.0.1

So there are two separate issues?
1. Some photos are not loading for you and
2. There are gaps between some photos?

The gaps that you see should be filled by other photos which haven't loaded. Most gallery styles employ an algorithm which arranges and displays the pics so that each row (except the last) is completely filled. In these cases it would appear that the algorithm has assigned spaces for all of the pics but not all of those assigned spaces have had their associated images loaded into them.

Spending more time looking at your site I can see there are many gaps and photos missing.
My initial quick glance gave the impression that all was OK, but it is not.
This looks to be another bug.

I am seeing the exact same thing here in South Africa.

Then I discovered that some of MY galleries look like this as well!!

I checked your links here in Washington state and I see missing photos also. I have NOT experienced this on my own site, however.

On your "Friends" page, the same exact blank spots appear for me; i.e. no photos ever load into those black spots you show in your screenshot as missing photos. The page otherwise seems to load at a med. to fast pace. [ETA: On your "Family" page, I see the same gaps you see too. I didn't realize the first times I looked that these pages look different every time you refresh]. I'm in Pennsylvania, on FF with Vista. A completely different sidenote is that I think you mean to say at the top of your page that there's a gap from "2008 to 2011". One zero is missing from 2008. Trivial I know; just thought you'd like to know.

can confirm loaded quickly for me but missing pictures in both links, im in the UK and using safari....
