Lightbox doesn't always load

I'm finding all too often when I click on an image to bring it up full screen, the lightbox doesn't load or only partially loads. I have to either exit out of the lightbox and try again or refresh the screen to see the image. This is really annoying to anyone visiting the site. Any ideas on this?

There are multiple threads about this same issue, but everyone seems to describe it differently.

It seems to be intermittent and browser-dependent.

It would be nice if one of the mods or heroes could collect / index / merge / whatever all those threads!

Eventually all the bugs will be worked out, in the mean time...
