don't know if I ever posted these, but I'm bored and like to show them. the local shop was running parking lot supermotard races last summer. they take Honda XR 100's and throw slicks on them and run em around a parking lot race track.

with enthusiasm.

as usual I was always thinking lower res to save space so the first time they were "OK".

tensions can and did run high on the starts.

I went back the following Thursday, as it was a thursday night thing, bumped up the res, turned on the flash even though it was pretty light out, and got out into the fray, looking for more action, and just stuck the camera out as close as possible and let what would be be. or something like that.

this night a local 12? year old who has been receiving sponsorship through this shop with great success on the national level in junior motocross was present. his size was a huge advantage and he could thread that bike around corners like nobodies business.


here is young Justin Barcia on the 55 bike.

I bagged him in the turn a few times with great results using the flash as dusk set in.

he's cooking pretty good here, he really came into the corners hot and was able to just stick it in the turn like he was on rails.

size matters, the other guy is the one riding the 55 bike in the first pictures.

he wasn't too happy on learning it was a school night.

so that saturday, 9/25/04, they decided to play for real. the big stage.

there were some serious NASCAR type teams on hand.

huge crowds formed in anticipation of the big event.

the kid had his game face on but was a bundle of nerves.

helmets were strapped on and the mood in the pits turned serious.

last minute equipment checks with the Team Crew Chief were performed.

in short time the flag was dropped and they had at it.

Justin passed at will, slicing through the pack like a knife through butter.

for a 100 cc Phil is flat hauling here trust me.

my favorite shot from the day as the little demon pressed for the lead. they allowed 125's to run so he's chasing a bike with a %25 bigger engine.
