Thanks Ian, we have not had that many lightning storms this summer. I spent almost 3 weeks chasing weather patterns to get this one. I was in the wrong place for the pop up storms. When I made this capture, it was all worth it.
I love everything about it, even when I saw it for the first time and capturing this light and the seagulls and lightning bolt are all truly magic! Only thing that I felt was missing and it is being greedy is some kind of interesting foreground element....it is not something you could do anything about.....if only a seagull had flown a bit closer on bottom right...;o)....or a dinghy....JMO

I agree about the foreground element. It really bothered me that it was missing; however, there was anything nearby to incorporate into the image that was esthetically pleasing and I was rushing to get the seagulls before they got out of frame as well as trying not to get fried myself. They tell you in a lightning storm not to stand in the open, in water, under power lines, or hold hold onto something metal. I was doing all of the above. rofl
