A positive observation about the new Smugmug

For what it's worth, my site traffic is up about 20-30% since SmugMug's redesign.

While I can't say for certain that the increase was caused by the prettier galleries, it certainly hasn't hurt. So, thanks!

Mine is up dramatically as well, but I'm virtually certain it's counting all my access as I work on it. :(

It is quite possible that your site traffic is up as more people explore your new site. If you are using Google Analytics on your site, you can look at your demographics to get an idea if the traffic is from yourself, by your city, or the rest of the world.

Most of my traffic increase matches me - same state, OK, browser, etc. But then again most of the people consuming my photos are in my state, and I use common browsers (Chrome, IE), so I'm not sure I can tell much.

Do Smugmug statistics count owner access?

I'm not 100% sure it's working, but it should not count your views if you are logged in.

It counts when I log in, I have noticed on Real Time that it does, my SM email is different from my Google Analytics login..

    Thanks,

It does. For me it always has. I only ever use Smugmug stats as a guideline to be honest so any sudden increases in traffic are taken with a pinch of salt as it is usually me!

To balance this argument many people have also noticed a huge drop in viewing stats due to the new Smug not supporting communities, and huge bugs that have appeared in the legacy Smug relating to communities

And they are also saying 'well, I went to your website and it looks very nice but I didn't see any new photographs' and they are not coming back again because I am still waiting for 'Recent Photos' to be anywhere near up to date!
