Lightbox from a Page

Since galleries cannot be customised at all (eg larger photos, different spacing etc) I decided to use pages for my main portfolio galleries so I could get the look that I wanted and actually display the most important part of any photographers site (the photos) in the best way possible.

So I created a page, added a 'multiple photos' block and pointed it at a single gallery. I then made the photos bigger (incidentally when changing other settings this often reverts to 'small', annoying bug) and changed the spacing.

I also set it to open the lightbox when you click on an image. The problem with this is it isn't the same as the lightbox in a gallery. It doesn't display the info bar along the bottom with the various buttons/links etc, it has a black background, and it doesn't let you move to the next/prev photo.

So I changed it to 'go to gallery' when you click a photo - and that does take you straight to the full gallery lightbox, but when you close it you are back in the horrible 'small photo' gallery style that I want to avoid.

All we need is galleries to have the same options as folders and pages! It is totally crazy that I can have larger photos just about everywhere else apart from my actual galleries! Please sort this out for us!

I created a bug report for that... i have the same problems when you open a photo from a recent photos content block.

I have that on my radar to talk to my product team.
FYI you can change the spacing between photos in the galleries using CSS. Check out http://www.smugocity.com/

Yep, i've done the spacing, it's the larger photos bit that you can't do

I logged a feature request for this - it was one of the first things that jumped out at me when I switched my galleries to collage landscape.

Feature request: Allow selection of a larger size for collage style galleries; please add your comments.

It seems that on MultiplePhotos / RecentPhotos this has been fixed now... at least i get the nav bars, panel icons and captions.

Correct. I posted this in the support forum. My apologies for not being able to get notice in here as well.
