When the reservoir was constructed the church was going to be demolished as part of it would have been below the water line, but because of public demand a concrete cap was installed and the ground surrounding it banked so it could remain.

Although late evening it wasn't the best light, but C & C is welcome and appreciated.

Hi Gemma, I like the exposure and church is beautiful! What I would have done differently (and that's just personal choice, not final word) is first to NOT sort of center the church, second get closer to it even if meant getting chest deep in water (what is the right third of the picture contributing?), there seems to be some interesting reflection that might have been captured, third, straighten the horizon, and fourth, try to find some foreground element, close-up of crashing waves or reflection. JMO.

Thanks very much for your comments - it's always good to hear somebody else's opinion.

I've tweaked the horizon (I shouldn't process pictures when I'm tired).

The church's tower is sitting on a third intersection and the right hand third was included because I wanted the sweeping curve of the shore and to show that the building is jutting out into the reservoir rather than being on an island.

Because it's a reservoir that supplies drinking water, we aren't allowed in the water and as it was windy and the water was moving the reflection wasn't any clearer than you can see in the picture (closer and you couldn't see a reflection at all). I perhaps may have been able to get more of the reflection with a slower shutter speed?

Unfortunately, though it's a big reservoir it isn't a large enough body of water to create crashing waves - even on a windy day.
