I made a mistake (GOK How) in my contact form. Somehow - for some reason - I inserted MY OWN emal address where it says "email "address. Now I can't find how to take this out so the person trying to contact me can insert their emai. Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

Many thanks.

Do you mean in the text field that you can replace?

Sorry, mbonocore - and thank very much for the prompt reply.

It finally occurred to me to use the contact form after logging out, and I now understand the contact form is trying to tell the user what my emai IS so all is OK.

I just misunderstood the phraseology on the contact form. All is OK after all.

Incidentally don't you guys feel too bad that there are so many problems with the new system. Believe me the new system is better by far. The problem lies in the instructions on how to use it. Unfortunately nobody (not just SmugMug) has EVER figured out how to instruct users in such a complex system.

You are trying to tell users of EXTREMELY WIDE variance of knowledge how to do something very hard to do - build essentially our own web sites with widely varying needs.

If you have ever tried to use MicroSoft Access you will know EXACTLY what I mean. Access is even more unlikely than what you are doing. Access allows nonprogrammers to build a fully functional relational database from scratch. The instruction book weighs almost a pound.

By the way, my site is designed to allow clients to send me images for me to rework into faux artwork - well worth $30 a month if I ever get it right. It is actually usable now, and I like it, though I wish I could find a way to get a message AND an email together - easy enough with regular email.

Is there any way to see some sites of people offering (like me) services rather than trying to sell my own photographs.

Thanks again for a great SmugMug and appreciate everybody's efforts.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your feedback. It is a very robust system, and we do know that it can be a little complicated at first.

In regards to wanting to get "email" from the clients, have you considered using the Wufoo contact form in the Content Blocks within "Customize"? It may be what you are looking for.

Part of the beauty of the smug contact form is that it does not expose your email address. The email address on the form is for the email of the user who is trying to contact you. If you are logged in to smug that is populated with the logged in address of the current user.

Right. I did not realize when I LOOK AT IT INSIDE SmugMug that it shows the current user - me. Thanks, Denise.

Thanks - I haven't a clue what this means - Wufoo is a total mystery, "content blocks" I can probably find, "Customize" seems to be an entire section in the New SmugMug ? ? ? Tue, Aug 20, 2013 12:03 PM. I googled Wufoo and am OK there - looks like what I need. Thanks.

Has SmugMug considered setting up a definitions page ? This would help a lot; I could have found Wufoo, etc much quicker. I don't think specialists realize just how confusing phrases and words can be to people who are not SmugMug experts.

All programmers/specialists use words that have regular meanings (argument, content blocks, customize) without realizing that to ordinary people (I am a photoshop specialist - used since v3, so I speak that language somewhat; also medical transcription - so I speak several specialized "languages". . .But not SmugMug - yet.

Also - a most respectful suggestion - this one is to make your tough job maybe a little easier ! - investigate using a text expander. (google same if not familiar term). For example, to insert the date I type "dl" and hit spacebar - Tue, Aug 20, 2013 12:14 PM appears. For personal date I use 130820 because this date computer sorts. dl means "date long" to me, and ds means "date short". "sm" produces SmugMug, and to get my site address I type bws which types: http://bill-wilson.smugmug.com/ . This saves an enormous amount of time. Most people don't like text expanders, I have found, but I love mine !! Thanks again. Bill Wilson wrw484848@gmail.com.
