Structure Of SM Site

I have been here for just over a year and I should probably have asked this when I first joined...
At present, I have around 700 public images on my site. I doubt that it will grow much past the 1000 mark in the next year.
All images are indexed with keywords and everything that is intended for public view is placed in an unlisted gallery. When I say 'unlisted'.. this gallery is public, but is not accessible from the homepage.
I have created smart galleries, that populate from keywords that are collected from images that are contained in the unlisted gallery.
Everything works fine and, although smart population appears to be bugged at the moment (the galleries need to be manually populated), I am sure that SM will sort this out in time.
Are there any pitfalls to having the structure the way it is? Is there something that I am not aware of or have not considered?

If the "Everything Gallery" is Unlisted, doesn't that mean the images won't be found by Search? It looks like you set it back to Public, so Search does produce results now (which BTW point to the Everything Gallery, not the smart galleries).
Yes, but normal visitors to his site most likely wouldn't know about /browse if you don't put a link out there. But yes, either way won't really matter if you aren't displaying child objects.

Just curious if you figured this out? I'm wondering if NewSM's Search treats Unlisted galleries differently than in Legacy.
I was waiting for confirmation of my last post, so.. no I haven't.
Correct, Private galleries won't be populated in Smart Galleries.

Anna Lisa,
Photos in Private galleries will NOT be returned in Smart Galleries, period. Photos in Unlisted or Password protected will be if the option is selected in the Smart Gallery. Remember, New SmugMug has a Private option in addition to unlisted and public.

Hi Michael
I have just tested this in mine and they don't work for me as you suggest..
I made the 'everything' gallery unlisted and PW protected, made sure that the smart gallery had "Include my unlisted/password protected galleries" to yes and they were not populated.
I tried the same thing with a public password protected gallery and the images were not populated.
Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned, that is how it will work, once this is fixed
