Catching light like this is a every photographer's dream! I wish there was just a slight different shade to water for change of pace......everything else is dreamy!

    Great shot! Where is this?

This is at Cannon Beach, Oregon. The location is Ecola State Park and the Indian Beach cove at that state park. The lighthouse is the Tillamook Head Lighthouse; aka Terrible Tilly.

My dream for this shot was not only the beautiful light, but breaking waves around the lighthouse. I had researched for when the incoming tide met at the same time as sunset during summer months (better option for beautiful sunset light). Unfortunately the incoming tide was boring and even the surfers at Indian Beach Cove were bored with it.

As it was, I drove there (1.5 hour drive) hiked up the hill to my spot... 25 minute hike with about a 1000 foot elevation gain and I couldn't even see the lighthouse it was sooooo foggy. I went back down the hill to a spot to see if I could get the distant rocks in the fog.... before I decided to leave, I notice that I could see out to about 2 miles out... decided to run back up the hill to my spot and lo and behold, "Thar she blows"... sunset was just coming on and I was able to get my captures minus the waves I wanted to accompany...

I will be planning a return trip for late February/March when there may be a possibility of stormy waves... but probably not so beatiful light in the sky.... ne_nau.gif

Thanks for looking all and the nice comments.

The story made this picture even more enjoyable! Yes, sometimes it is hard to convey what went behind the shot! Stunning this is!!!
