Waterfall in Central Park

I shot this waterfall in Central Park (in New York City) last month. It's always seemed so odd to me that this tranquil, little, idyllic spot is actually in the middle of one of the busiest locations on the face of the planet.

Very nice shot. I'm curious as to the time and aperture...

I've been all through Central Park many many times, and never saw this spot. May I ask where it is?

Hi Zev - I've got a couple of observations:

A Google search shows this waterfall is in an area called The Loch (www.centralpark.com), in the very northern part of the park.
The lighting is rather flat and that may have been emphasized by processing - there are few dark shadows and I think a higher black-point and/or more contrast would give the image more dimension/pop.
EXIF shows Photomatix as a software used, and if this is HDR processing, I think in this image, it has rendered the scene too flat.
To me, the image appears tipped down to the right and seeing some other images of this scene on Google,
I think a wider view with the falls a bit less centered would help show the setting and make a better composition.

I've never been there, but hope to visit CP someday... I just have to overcome all the TV plot-lines where the tourist ends up not being able to go home... mwink.gif

    Hope this helps
