Car composition

I guess I'm getting itchy about not having any new automotive captures for 3 years now. :) Going back to some shots from 2008 of a good friend's ZR-1. I did major edits to two photos and looking for feedback, especially on the second shot.

Engine, mostly just a heavy vignette to hide away the ugliness around the edges inherent in engine compartments, plus simple text:

Car and Engine composition. I've done little masking in the past. First attempt at a fake shadow, and at a reflection. Not sure about the exact choice of background, but the color (close to UT's burnt orange) was requested by Paul. I put a bit of thought into the font, plus stretched it vertically 150% for more impact.

Good work, Bill. Your approach with the engine shot paid off very well. The following collage shot came off exceptionally well also.

Thanks Tom! I have an idea or two for the second one but trying to keep it relatively low-key and not get too fancy. Might post an edit in the next day or two, work permitting.

Added a digital frame/edge, changed the text a bit. I think I'll try text more like on the engine shot next, don't like how the ZR-1 overlaps the engine.

It's purely subjective, Bill, but I like the shot without the added framing....seems to be a bit distractive to me. I agree that the ZR-1 text is too intrusive.

Not a big fan of the added framing. I really like your original collage better. Perhaps the updated ZR-1 could be made smaller. How does your created font version compare with the actual ZR-1 badging on the car? Could you use a copy of the badge?

Changed the text to just the essentials, "ZR-1" and "Lingenfelter". The rest was unnecessary. And the text to match the style of the engine shot (from the same car).

I like your latest version. The border is actually starting to grow on me know. For some reason I still think I'd like to see "1994" somewhere, but it looks pretty good without, too.

Figured if I'm going to do this, I need to do a car that I used to own as well. :) Probably need to learn how to deal a bit with paint reflections, and I know there are tricks to get that reflection more accurate, especially with lining up the front bumper through distortions after I've lined up the two side wheels.
