Smugmug hasn't made changes to the shopping cart [yet?]. It just doesn't work well with mobile devices. I'm assuming that's why they left off buying from mobile sites. The whole admin side of things is equally unfriendly on mobile devices and is also left off.

I'm assuming they are working on a better shopping cart. I'm pretty amazed they shipped new smug without it.

So does this mean I need to add a disclaimer to my site: "Smugmug only allows you to purchase items from your computer, not from your tablet or smartphone."?

No option to buy on Mobile phone
I have confirmed this issue on my site as well as looking at other sites that were sent to smugmug for display. All of the sites display buy ion desktop and none display on mobile. This is a HUGE issue and one that has already cost me lost sales. It is unacceptable that users can only buy from a desktop device. I have validated Cart is available on desktop and laptop and is not available on Iphone or Android. In addition, no matter what gallery display style you choose, Iphone shows as Collage and allows Slideshow even if you disable in your gallery settings. I'm also curious if anyone has validated whether buy is available on IPads? Any updates are appreciated!

I got email back from SM Heros.....

    Hi Richard,

    Thank you for contacting SmugMug.

The mobile version of the site does not include away to buy photos, our apologies. The cart hasn't yet been optimized for mobile purchasing, but this is something we hope to have in the future.

If you need anything else, please let us know.

I really think SmugMug needs to document this somewhere in their feature documentation for potential users of the software. If they do not offer mobile users the ability to purchase photos, they need to say so. Actually, from what I can see, we cannot affect anything on mobile devices. No matter what gallery options I select, mobile devices display collage and allow slideshow view. All of the design options out there only matter if the customer is on a desktop. How many of us are already aware of these limitations? I have been a PRO customer for over a year and I am just now realizing my sales are not low because people don't want to buy pictures. My sales are low because my potential customers cannot buy my pictures.

This is far from desirable - I just checked my analytics and 40% of my traffic is mobile devices. This should be a HIGH priority IMO.

I just spent two weeks only to find that 80% of my visitors (Mobile) cannot purchase anything from my site. I am VERY upset. I can't believe in this day and age when mobile browsing is so popular that SmugMug does not allow you to either turn off the mobile viewing option or to allow purchasing via the mobile website. With the response from SmugMug of "The cart hasn't yet been optimized for mobile purchasing, but this is something we hope to have in the future.".

You are kidding right? Something you HOPE to have in the future?? Why was the new SM design even released without this basic option? Thanks for taking my $300 for a website that still acts like it's 2002 SmugMug. Looks like I'll start exploring other options tomorrow.
