Night Heron

Found this Black Crowned Night Heron at the edge of a river under a tree. Unfortunately, I only got one photo of him, because my flash spooked him and he took off. Needless to say, I felt terrible to have disturbed him. It's the first time I've had a flash scare off a bird that way, and was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? (It was just the camera flash, nothing fancy.)

Gosh, Pear, it is a good shot. I know these birds are in our neighborhood, yet I have never seen one, much less gotten a shot. Great work! Best, Pam
