SM Gallery - Title Block HTML

I want to change part of the text string in the Title block under the large image in the SM Gallery. I just want to change the font style and size of part of the text string. I tried with HTML in the caption and it works fine. The same code and string does not work in the title block. The title block does not accept the HTML and strips out the tags to display only the unmodified text.

Is there a switch or setting on the SM gallery page that controls this behaviour? Can it be toggled to accept HTML? It's the last step in getting the page to look the way I want.
