Moving image from one gallery to another

Ok, I figured out to move an image from one gallery to another, you do this in organizer. So, I go and find the image (which got in the wrong gallery somehow). I then want to move it to the correct gallery. Hmmmmmm how to get a list of galleries to pinpoint where it is suppose to go. Hmmmm can't find a way to do it. Ok, go to the folder/gallery list on left and scroll down and find the right gallery and have to remember where and to be sure the top folder is open. Then, go back to original gallery much further up. Open that gallery, click on the image, and then CAREFULLY drag the image all the way to the left and then let it scroll down to the correct gallery and let go (hopefully not unclicking somewhere down the list to early). File then moves to correct gallery. YA GOTTA BE KIDDING ME????

Please, is there a better way to do this? I am not making a copy. Just want to move the image - so no extra disk storage space.:huh

In windows I always right click and hold to drag. Box pops up with "copy here" and a cancel so if I'm not sure
I cancel. My friend has Parkinson's, I can just see him trying not to lose the mouse. Luckily I"ll do his migration
    for him after I unveil.

So, there is no other way? No toolkit "move to" except for Organize?

Why is deleting it and uploading it to the correct gallery too complicated?

Speaking personally I keep my photo collection on Smugmug. I would be hard pressed to find originals and upload again.

In this respect I wish Smugmug would make it much harder to delete photos and galleries. I tend to log in and not log out, so anybody who decides to use my computer in the meantime could do quite a lot of damage even accidentally.

Ok, so this isn't ideal, but you could download it from the wrong gallery, upload it to the correct gallery, then go back, copy/paste any captions etc as required and then delete from wrong gallery as necessary. No need to find the original.

I find the way it is implemented at the moment is convenient and easy.

When I get round to it I'll take more advantage of the additional layers to create more folders so it will get even easier. Either that or I'll get my head around smart galleries and go through to tag everything properly so I don't need to move anything or even wonder long about where it is stored. Perhaps a bit of both.

I do too. And it's a huge improvement over legacy smugmug.

LPC - because it WAS easier in Legacy. SM removed that ease. And why is it too complicated to program it better? And why don't you start producing HELPFUL advice instead of this comment and asking folks just to go somewhere else if we are not happy with what was chunked at us? You're still fired.:rambo

With over 20,000 images and hundreds of galleries, you will understand betterthumb.gif

Copying Image from one gallery to another?
This might be a dumb question, but for some reason I thought the organizer would allow you to also COPY pictures from one gallery to another. Unless I'm missing it, I can't see a way to do it in there. Anyone know where this can be done? Is the only way by being in the gallery and clicking "Collect"? Seems like the "organizer" should be able to do this instead of making you go elsewhere.

Your sequence feels a bit off to me.

In the organizer I open (click on) the folder containing the image I want to move. This opens the thumb view of that folder. Then I scroll the list of folders so the folder I want to move the photo to is visible. Then I drag the thumb to the new gallery. Simple...

As far as I know you still need to copy the photo in place, then move the copy to a different folder. I find it easier to just upload a second copy of the photo.

It really is that simple! I don't know why anyone would struggle with this, it's so much easier than it used to be headscratch.gif
