Unlisted galleries require gallery 'code' at end of URL to work

I have an unlisted gallery that is designed to be reached from a link in the bio but for it to work I need to use the 'code' at the end of the gallery name - ie.
http://www.petermclarenfineart.com/Glassmount/n-rbhZf
rather than
http://www.petermclarenfineart.com/Glassmount

Does anyone know if that is how it is meant to work or is it a bug?

Not really answering your question, but it also works if you use www.petermclarenfineart.com/Glassmount/

does seem somewhat like a bug... would have to investigate further to know more

Which link - the first or second? The link that ends in n-rbhZf should work, the other one gives the page not found error but I'd prefer that it worked. I hope that the one that ends in n-rbhZf is working otherwise I've got a bigger problem

That's how it's meant to work, visitors prove to the server that they were really given a link to the Unlisted gallery by including this unguessable ID number on the end of the URL. Without it, a visitor could just guess likely Unlisted gallery names and see them all.
