grey headed flying fox
grey headed flying foxes fly over melbourne to feed at night-this shot shows why i need a strong flash-it was taken with onboard flash handheld with smc takumar 300/4-autolvels brought the bat up but with it heaps of noise-once i have a strong flash i should be able to get a better pic

How do you focus and track it to shoot?
If it were me/I, it would be impressive that I stood my ground to shoot it: with a camera, too.
Nice holding, and I agree as to the "seeing".
ginger
thanks both
i shoot from on top of a building-tracking is rather hit and miss as they are so dark in the viewfinder-my plan is to get a powerful flash and use red eye reduction to help my manual focussing-a gang of about 50 fly over each night to their feeding grounds-the wingspan is 1 meter,so they are an impressive size

this is an earlier 5mp image from my old sony mavica with an olympus 1.7 teleconverter and sony flash-still a little rough but i will get a clear one eventually
