Grid View Squares

This is somewhat of a repost as my other thread got moved to feature request though it was as much a customization question as the feature use to exist. (http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=239991)
In the current gird layout all thumbnails are square. If you have gallery settings set to none "Square Thumbnails" when you resize the website to a point that evokes an @media screen change, the thumbnails in the screen go from square to none square. I've attached screen shot for clarification.
I would like the gallery layout I see at @medeia screen (width starting around 782 or smaller) to be the same i see as when i'm viewing the website full size of a desktop. So none square gird galleries through all view widths.
